November 2009 - Saint John Water's implementation of WaterTrax wins ACWWA's Project of the Year award

Municipal infrastructure and operations are the backbone of any community, and without improvements water and wastewater services would be compromised, causing extensive costs and potential public criticism. This is why every year the Atlantic Canada Water & Wastewater Association (ACWWA) identifies projects that provide a significant benefit to their communities and that have demonstrated good design, ingenuity, and improved efficiency.

This year, the Project of the Year in the large municipalities category was awarded to the City of Saint John for its implementation of WaterTrax's Water and Wastewater Data Management Software.  After completing a gap analysis, Saint John Water subscribed to WaterTrax because it was specifically to manage water and wastewater system data, required no additional hardware or internal IT support, and met most of their functional requirements.

Brent McGovern, Deputy Commissioner, accepted the award on behalf Saint John Water at the ACWWA's annual conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia in October.

Congratulations to Saint John Water!

March 2009 - Water and Wastes Digest Magazine publishes WaterTrax Saint John Water Case Study!

Late last year, the editorial staff at Water and Wastes Digest approached us asking if we had any interesting articles to share based on our own experiences in the water and wastewater industry. Our Director of Product Strategy, Andrew Lewis, heartily agreed and teamed up with one of our newest clients, Saint John Water, to co-write a case study. The case study describes how Saint John Water, a water and wastewater utility serving 65,000 people, switched to a web-based Software-as-a-Service data management system after completing a comprehensive review of their traditional data management and reporting systems. The case study appears in the March issue of Water and Wastes Digest and can be found online at: http://www.wwdmag.com/Software-at-your-Service-article10200 or as a pdf document here. Water and Wastes Digest Magazine is a monthly publication with a circulation of 90,000, making it one of the most widely read publications on water and wastewater treatment in North America.

February 2009 - WaterTrax Investor Group Purchases Marqui Solutions Inc.

On August 18, 2008, the investor group that owns WaterTrax Inc. purchased Marqui Solutions Inc., a Vancouver-based provider of on-demand marketing automation and website content management software. The investors, which include SIL Enterprises, Krystal Financial Corporation, Abraxus Holdings, and Ogilvie Communications, were attracted by Marqui's excellent products, outstanding customer base across North America, and skilled team of employees.

The acquisition was in line with the group's goal of moving toward the creation of a multi-brand software-as-a-service (SaaS) company. Although Marqui and WaterTrax will operate as separate businesses, they will share some management functions, such as Lance Neale, CEO of both companies, James Griffiths, joint CFO and Vickitt Lau, Vice President, Software-as-a-Service. Both WaterTrax and Marqui will fit under the umbrella of a newly incorporated company titled WaterMarq Technologies Inc.

The SaaS model of software delivery offers great benefits to corporations, municipalities and agencies because it provides data and web content management solutions without a heavy burden on IT or consultants. Marqui provides WaterTrax customers enhanced communications, providing stronger community outreach, and giving departments direct control of content changes/additions to their website.

January 2009 - Trade Shows and Conferences this Spring and Summer

Another busy travel schedule is awaiting us this spring and summer as we are scheduled to attend at least six different trade shows and conferences across the US and Canada.  We will start with the Florida Water Resources Conference (FWRC) conference in Windermere, FL, April 4-8.  At the same time, we will once again be exhibiting at the California-Nevada AWWA spring conference in Santa Clara, CA, on April 6-9.  Next, we will exhibit at the largest regional water conference in the US; the always hugely popular Texas Water conference on April 14-17.  The conference will be in Galveston, which is quickly recovering from Hurricane Ike.  A few days later we will make our first east coast appearance of the year on April 21-23 at the New York Section AWWA conference in Saratoga Springs.  We will finish a very hectic April back in California, at the California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Annual Conference in Palm Springs, April 28-May 1.  Our final show of the first half of the year will be in Salem, Oregon, at the Pacific Northwest AWWA Annual conference May 6-9.

As we receive confirmations on our booths from the even organizers, we will be adding specific booth numbers to the Events section of our website.  If we will be exhibiting in your area, please drop by and say hello!
